Bede the Venerable
672/3 – 735 · England
“Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth.”
A monk who rarely left his Northumbrian monastery, Bede wrote the Ecclesiastical History of the English People, the single most important source for early English history. He is said to have finished dictating his final translation on the very day he died.
