David Livingstone

A Scottish missionary doctor, Livingstone spent three decades exploring Africa, mapping its interior and campaigning fiercely against the slave trade he witnessed there. He died in present-day Zambia; his heart, at his own wish, was buried in Africa while his body was returned to England.
