Ignatius of Loyola

A wounded Spanish soldier, Ignatius underwent a long convalescence that turned him from tales of chivalry to a life of prayer. He founded the Society of Jesus and wrote the Spiritual Exercises, a structured guide to prayer still used by Christians of many traditions today.
