A diminutive but formidable Southern Baptist missionary, Lottie Moon spent nearly forty years in China, teaching, evangelizing, and advocating fiercely for more missionaries and funding. She died after giving away much of her own food during a famine; the annual missions offering bearing her name has since raised billions of dollars.
