Teresa of Ávila

A Carmelite nun known for vivid mystical experiences, Teresa reformed her order back toward simplicity and poverty despite fierce resistance, founding over a dozen new convents across Spain. Her writings on prayer, especially The Interior Castle, remain foundational texts of Christian mysticism.
